A little evolution for this space. 🌿 Photography has always been one of the ways I slow down, pay attention, and connect with the places and people around me. Over time, it has also become increasingly intertwined with my work as an environmental scientist as I aim to document the journey of science and the interesting landscapes I have the joy to work in. It’s truly a full circle moment and such a dream for the two worlds to come together! So, this page is growing with me. Samantha Allen | Field Notes - will be a place to share more from the field: photography, research, remote sensing, maps, biodiversity, streams, and the landscapes and communities connected to them. I'll also be sharing glimpses of fieldwork, scientific discovery, and the places my work takes me, from Tennessee to Scotland and beyond. At its core, not much is changing. I'll still be sharing the world through my camera. There will just be a little more of the science, curiosity, and story behind what you see. Thanks to everyone for following along, whether you are new here or have been with me over the last 15+ years since I bought my first camera. I'm excited to see where this next chapter leads. 🌎

Hey everyone! We have some news! It’s been a minute since an introduction, and I couldn’t think of a better time than now! It is truly bittersweet to say, but after more than 10 years of photography, and after lots of prayers about how to best serve my family and my clients, I am going to be focusing on serving my wedding clients with even more of an intentional, tailored and effortless experience for their big day! To do this well, I am moving away from taking on any additional family sessions and milestone packages (unless we have already discussed your sessions) that I have grown to love all these years. I am a wife, a mother of four, an educator, and an environmental scientist. I pull from each of these to strive for a detail oriented, adventurous, and joyful experience for my brides. When it comes to new landscapes and places to explore to make your wedding day great, there really is no mountain too high or valley too low. I’m excited to make this shift and always strive for my clients to have an amazing experience, breathtaking photos and a lifetime of memories to go along with them! All that to say, you’ll see more of my wedding clients, the sweet details and beautiful landscapes from weddings, travel and conservation work around the globe. Thanks for the love and support all these years. I can’t wait to see what’s in store!

| Soooo fun fact for those that don’t know: Daniel and I are expecting again! Another baby boy is due to join our family this July! It hasn’t been a secret, but we haven’t felt the need to post it as we have really been savoring telling people by word of mouth. Old school, right?! Long story short, right before this pregnancy, we went through a miscarriage, and that experience really reminded us that these children we are given are not our own and are the Lord’s before they are ours. We have seen a glimpse of what so many people go through and we have prayed that as we tell people about this pregnancy that it won’t be a reminder of loss but instead will give hope and joy of another life.✨ That being said, as I am at a busy time in my doctorate degree, wedding season is approaching, and I’ll be going on Maternity leave - I’m only booking a limited number of sessions, and they’re filling up quick! So, if you are considering booking over the next few months, I encourage you to reach out and let’s get it on the books!!
